A Neurologic Physical Therapist is a PT who specializes in the evaluation and treatment of individuals with movement problems due to disease or injury of the nervous system. Neurologic injuries include strokes, otherwise known as cerebrovascular events or CVA's, Spinal Cord Injuries, and Traumatic Brain Injuries. Concussions also fall into this category.
Our Physical Therapists are trained to treat these types of injuries and can help you improve your balance, ability to transfer between surfaces, walk, gain strength and endurance, move safely with less assistance, and return to some prior level of activity and independence. To reach these goals, neuro rehab may include programs to help with activates of daily living (ADLs) such as eating, dressing, bathing, toileting, handwriting, cooking, and basic daily activates.
Occupational Therapists and Speech Language Pathologist are also trained to treat neurologic diseases or injuries.
